Israel airstrike in Gaza(Palestine) kill 10 civilians including a prominent Islamic leader.

Summary  :-  10 people are killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza, including a prominent Islamic Jihad leader.

As tensions between Israel and Palestinian militant organizations continue to grow, the Israeli military carried out deadly attacks on what it claimed were Islamic Jihad sites in Gaza on Friday. Tayseer Al Jabari, one of Islamic Jihad's senior leaders, was reportedly killed in an Israeli strike, according to a statement. The organization claimed that he served as a commander and member of its Military Council for the Quds Brigade, Islamic Jihad's armed wing. A 5-year-old kid and a 23-year-old woman were among the 10 persons who died, according to the Palestinian health ministry. There were 75 more injuries, it claimed. Israel claims the majority of the fatalities were militants.

The smaller of the two main militant organizations in Gaza, Islamic Jihad, was the focus of the military action, according to a statement from the Israeli army. According to the Israeli army, the major objectives of its military action were an airstrike on Al Jabari as a preventative measure and strikes on two anti-tank squads that were on their way to launch an attack on Israeli soldiers. An army spokesman told reporters on a conference call Friday night that the two squads had been monitored for several days prior to the Air Force's operation. He added that Israel had been under imminent threat for several days as the two militant units had been moving dangerously close to the fence separating Gaza from Israel.

According to the Israeli army, a "special situation" has been declared in the vicinity of Gaza in preparation for potential rocket fire or other retaliation attacks. In a joint statement, Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid and Defense Minister Benny Gantz stated that "the goal of this operation is the elimination of a concrete threat against the citizens of Israel and the civilians living adjacent to the Gaza Strip, as well as the targeting of terrorists and their sponsors." "The Israeli government will not permit terrorist groups operating in the Gaza Strip to dictate policies in the region nearby and pose a threat to Israeli residents. Anyone attempting to hurt Israel should be aware that: "stated Lapid.

Islamic Jihad has promised retaliation. Spokesman Daoud Shehab said on Al Jazeera that "all choices are open, with all means that the Palestinian resistance has, whether in Gaza or overseas." "The battleground is accessible. The opposition will react strongly. It will happen, albeit we won't tell how."Gantz, meanwhile, gave the go-ahead to call up 25,000 reserve soldiers on Friday night, indicating that Israel was ready for a full-scale escalation. According to the Defense Ministry, those who are immediately called up would support the army's southern command, which encompasses the region surrounding Gaza, as well as units in charge of Israel's aerial defense systems, among other deployments.

Late Friday night, the southern town of Sderot and other nearby settlements heard sirens warning of impending rocket fire. Earlier, sirens could be heard in Yavne, which is midway between Tel Aviv and Ashdod, and Bat Yam, which is a few kilometers south of Tel Aviv. There have been numerous rocket interceptions by the Iron Dome aerial defense system, according to Israeli media, but no Israeli deaths have been reported. According to an Israeli army spokesman, Palestinian militants have launched 118 rockets against Israel by Saturday night local time (5 p.m. on Friday). The army reported that eleven of the launches had been unable to cross the border dividing Gaza from Israel, meaning they had landed inside the Strip.

According to the Israeli army, it is still attacking Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza, including a missile launch pad close to Khan Younis, a city in southern Gaza. The army also declared that it was attacking factories making weapons. The smaller of the two main terrorist factions in the Strip, Islamic Jihad, and Israel are currently engaged in a serious escalation, and Hamas, the militant organization in charge of Gaza, appears to be treading lightly. Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas, has accused Israel for the escalation, although his most recent pronouncements have refrained from threatening attacks in retribution. Instead, they have stressed Hamas' participation in negotiations aimed at putting an end to hostilities as well as the function of international mediators

Haniyeh was quoted by Hamas as saying, "The Israeli occupation bears full responsibility for its most recent escalation in the Gaza Strip." The statement said, "Haniyeh reiterated the imperative for the ongoing Israeli bombardment in the constrained Gaza Strip to be promptly stopped in a phone contact with senior Egyptian intelligence authorities. According to a previous Hamas press statement, Haniyeh also spoke over the phone with Qatar's foreign minister in an effort to stop the bloodshed.

Hamas was unmistakably in charge when Israel and Gaza militants engaged in a brief battle in May 2021, the fourth such conflict in 13 years. It attempted to use the escalating violence in and around Jerusalem's Al-Aqsa mosque as justification for firing rockets at Jerusalem, which started the 11-day confrontation. The senior UN representative in the Middle East, Tor Wennesland, expressed his extreme concern over the growing escalation between the two sides. Wennesland called for an end to rocket launches and urged all parties to prevent further escalation in response to the killing of a five-year-old girl, stating that there could be "no justification for any attacks against civilians." Wennesland also addressed militants, saying, "the launching of rockets must cease immediately."

After hostilities have broken out, the UN and Egypt have frequently served as a crucial middleman between Israel and Palestinian militants to restore a ceasefire. Wennesland stated that the UN was "completely engaged with all parties" in an effort to stop the situation from getting worse. But he said, "The parties have the responsibility to prevent this from happening." The attacks on Friday come after Israeli soldiers detained Bassam al-Saadi, a prominent Islamic Jihad commander, during a raid on Jenin, an occupied West Bank town, on Monday night. According to the Israeli military, a 17-year-old Palestinian associated with Islamic Jihad was killed during the operation during a gunfight with Israeli soldiers. He had been shot in the head by Israeli forces, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

Israel reported that Saadi was one of two wanted terror suspects who were captured during the raid. In response, the Quds Brigade, Islamic Jihad's armed wing, declared it would mobilize its forces throughout the Palestinian territories. Israel has conducted numerous operations in and around Jenin in recent months as a result of several deadly strikes inside Israel carried out by Palestinian gunmen from the area. According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, 30 Palestinians have died in the raids since the year's beginning.
